Hi! I’m Ruby Syme, a graphic designer, and illustrator. I’m originally from Australia and currently based in Brooklyn, New York. I love craft beer, cats, and cooking (and some well-placed alliteration).
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design and in Professional Communications (Journalism). Between these, I’ve developed an impressive combination of verbal, written, and visual communication skills AKA all the tools to make your next project come to life. I’m currently available for freelance work so please reach out with any prospective projects. I’d love to chat.
ABOUT MY PRACTICE
I love drawing (clearly) and somehow this always sneaks its way into my design work. You'll spy a lot of illustrations in the design projects on this site, and they were all created by me!
I love blurring the line between art and design in my work and pushing the boundaries of traditional, digital methods. This unique approach breathes fresh air into the digital, with hand-drawn elements, collage, and textures all adding a characteristic Ruby ‘pop’.
In my illustration work, I draw on memories and personal experiences as inspiration. I always want my drawings to make people feel something and instilling a little piece of myself into each work helps achieve this.
